My UK trip was one of the most exciting trips of my life!
The plan was to get as many British Canoeing qualifications as I could in 17 days. The BC Advance Sea Kayak Leader training, the White Water Safety & Rescue training and the White Water Kayak Leader training.
The plan was to get as many British Canoeing qualifications as I could in 17 days. The BC Advance Sea Kayak Leader training, the White Water Safety & Rescue training and the White Water Kayak Leader training.
So, the journey began from London, a days drive heading West to Pembrokeshire (Wales), where I met the ‘Wonderful Jess’, and crashed her place for the next 5 nights, so that I could complete my Advance Sea Kayak Leader training. I then headed North to Penrith (Lake District – England), for the White Water Safety & Rescue training over the weekend. A fun-filled intense rescue training to compliment the following weekend’s White Water Kayak Leader training. But in between that, I had 5 free days to kill. I had a couple of options, to stay put and spend my time at the Lake Districts (abundance to do), head back South West to Pembrokeshire to chill with the ‘Wonderful Jess’, or head to the North, into the unknown (for me). I chose North!
So I continued to the North through one of THE most scenic drive to Glencoe, I immediately fell in love with Scotland. The tall, big hills and mountains had character, and was just so gorgeous to look at, the air was so clean and clear, the trees still had green in them, but the roads were filled with the fallen leaves creating the autumn romance. Though the lakes and streams were often dark and eerie. I guess, thanks to Nessie (from Loch Ness), as every corner of the land had a story to tell, which makes it such a fascinating place.
I did a couple of beautiful hikes, met friendly, lovely people at the hostels, learned a lot about the history, and just enjoyed some ‘me’ time. Couldn’t have asked for anything better.
I was so tempted to stay longer, but I had to drag myself back reality. My destination again, back to Lake District to complete the intense White Water Leader training.
My UK adventure came to an end after 2200 km of driving.
Scotland is now my favorite country.
